Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
