Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
