The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day resplendent 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
