The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
