The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
