Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
