The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
