The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
