۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
