Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 He created death and life so that He might test you, and find out which of you is best in conduct. He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving One. 2 Who hath created seven heavens in harmony. Thou (Muhammad) canst see no fault in the Beneficent One's creation; then look again: Canst thou see any rifts? 3 Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired. 4 And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there is the doom of hell, a hapless journey's end! 6 When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up. 7 Almost bursting with fury: Every time a Group is cast therein, its Keepers will ask, "Did no Warner come to you?" 8 And they will answer: "Surely; a warner came to us, but we denied him, and said: 'God did not send down any thing; you are greatly deluded, in fact.'" 9 And they will add: "Had we but listened [to those warnings,] or [at least] used our own reason, we would not [now] be among those who are destined for the blazing flame!" 10 So they acknowledge their sins; but far removed (from mercy) are the dwellers in the flames. 11 Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward. 12 And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men). 13 How could He who created not know His own creation, when He alone is the Most Subtle in His wisdom and the All Aware? 14
