The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
