The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
