Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
