۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
