The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
