He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble, pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
