The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a great day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A Register inscribed. 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, watching. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
