Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
