and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport. 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
