The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
