The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
