The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
