He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
