Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
