The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 purify your garments; 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
