He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
