The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
