So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
