The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the declining star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
