The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
