The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 And by oath of your forefather Ibrahim, and by you his illustrious son! 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Those who do so are the people of the right hand, 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
Almighty God's Truth.
