And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you. 73 And remember when He appointed you successors after Ad, and lodged you in the land, taking to yourselves castles of its plains, and hewing its mountains into houses. Remember God's bounties, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption.' 74 The leaders of the arrogant party among his people said to those who were reckoned powerless - those among them who believed: "know ye indeed that Salih is a messenger from his Lord?" They said: "We do indeed believe in the revelation which hath been sent through him." 75 The arrogant leaders said, "We reject what you believe in." 76 Then they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the command of their Lord, and said: "Bring, O Saleh, on us the affliction you promise, if you are one of the sent ones." 77 So the earthquake took them unawares, and they lay prostrate in their homes in the morning! 78 And Salih left them, saying: 'O my people! I conveyed to you the message of my Lord and gave you good advice; but you have no liking for your well-wishers.' 79 And Lot, when he said to his people, 'What, do you commit such indecency as never any being in all the world committed before you? 80 Most surely you come to males in lust besides females; nay you are an extravagant people. 81 And his people gave no answer but this: they said, "Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!" 82 So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers]. 83 And We rained a shower (of stones) upon them; therefore see what sort of fate befell the culprits! 84
