The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 Then We inspired Moses, saying, "Throw down your staff." And it immediately swallowed up their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 [and] exclaiming: "We have come to believe in the Sustainer of all the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They replied: 'We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
