Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 about the sinners. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
