The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
