He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe of God 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble, pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
