The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 for a great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
