Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 Surely We have made it an Arabic Quran that you may understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
