The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
