He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
