The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 25

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
