The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
