He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
