The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
