The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
