Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 I ask of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 145 Will you be left secure in this here, 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 “And fields and palm-trees, with delicate tendrils?” 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me; 150 do not obey the bidding of those who are given to excesses, 151 who spread evil in the land with no reform." 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 For they were seized by the torment. Verily there was a sign in this, but most of them did not believe. 158 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 159
