The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
