Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, and made them equal in destruction (i.e. all grades of people, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc.)! 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
