And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you. 73 And remember what time He made you successors after 'Ad and inherited you in earth; ye take for yourselves palaces in the plains whereof and ye hew out the mountains as houses. Remember ye wherefore the benefits of Allah and commit not evil on the earth as corrupters. 74 Said the Council of those of his people who waxed proud to those that were abased, to those of them who believed, 'Do you know that Salih is an Envoy from his Lord?' They said, 'In the Message he has been sent with we are believers.' 75 Those who were stiff-necked said: verily we are disbelievers in that which ye believe. 76 So they slew the she-camel and revolted against their Lord's commandment, and they said: O Salih! bring us what you threatened us with, if you are one of the apostles. 77 So the earthquake seized them, and they lay (dead), prostrate in their homes. 78 And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and advised you, but you do not like advisors." 79 And We sent Lot, who said to his people: "Why do you commit this lecherous act which none in the world has committed before? 80 You lust after men rather than women! You transgress all bounds!" 81 Their only answer was: 'Banish them from your town. They are a people who pretend to be pure.' 82 Thereupon We saved him and his household except his wife, who was among those that stayed behind 83 the while We rained a rain [of destruction] upon the others: and behold what happened in the end to those people lost in sin! 84
