The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those of the right hand. 38
